Easter is a special holiday that we celebrate every year, usually in the month of April. But do you know why we celebrate Easter? Well, let me tell you the story of Easter and how it came to be.
Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. According to the Bible, Jesus was crucified on a Friday and was buried in a tomb. But on the third day, which was a Sunday, his tomb was found empty, and he appeared to his disciples alive.
The resurrection of Jesus is the most important event in Christianity. It represents the victory of life over death and gives hope to all believers that they too will one day rise from the dead.
The story of Easter begins with Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. The people welcomed him as a king, laying palm branches on the ground as he passed by. This is why the Sunday before Easter is called Palm Sunday.
On Thursday of that week, Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples. During the meal, he broke bread and shared it with them, saying that it represented his body. He also took a cup of wine and shared it with them, saying that it represented his blood, which would be shed for them.
After the meal, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. It was there that he was betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, and was arrested by the Roman soldiers.
Jesus was put on trial and was sentenced to death by crucifixion. He was forced to carry his cross to a hill outside the city where he was nailed to the cross and left to die.
After Jesus died, his body was placed in a tomb, and a large stone was rolled in front of it to seal it shut. But on the third day, the stone was rolled away, and Jesus rose from the dead.
When the women who had gone to the tomb to anoint Jesus' body found it empty, an angel told them that Jesus had risen from the dead. They were overjoyed and went to tell the disciples.
The disciples were skeptical at first, but when Jesus appeared to them alive, they were overjoyed and believed. They went out and spread the word of Jesus' resurrection to all the people.
And that is why we celebrate Easter every year. It is a time to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and the hope that his resurrection brings to all believers. So, let us celebrate Easter with joy and gratitude in our hearts!
